Honest Burgers, Oxford Street London

After a late night in Soho, lunchtime the next day was always going to require something hot and filling. And Honest Burgers off Oxford Street was just what the doctor ordered!

Despite the restaurant being busy both inside and outside, we quickly got a table and were presented with the menu. Small and perfectly formed, the menu only consists of 6 burger choices – including a chicken and vegetarian option. Personally, I love a small menu, it means I don’t deliberate over my options for too long and also that the restaurant will have perfected these meals, rather than trying to offer too much and failing.

Alongside the burger choices the menu boats a variety of side dishes, like chicken wings and some of the biggest onion rings I have ever seen, and dips/sauces too – there was a bacon gravy that I definitely had my eye on!

I decided on the “Honest” burger which included smoked bacon, cheddar, red onion relish, pickles and lettuce – all burgers are served with a large portion of home cooked, rosemary salt chips too.

The restaurant itself is relatively small but nicely done, in a simple laid-back style that is the perfect accompaniment to their burgers which are relatively simply done but perfectly formed.

The burger arrived and looked great, as did the chips which were large cut and crispy. I opted for the gluten free bun, which is an extra £1 – slightly annoying, and was pleased to see it looked almost identical to the regular bun, and it wasn’t falling apart either like many gluten free breads and rolls do.

But on my first bite, nothing else mattered. This burger was the juiciest thing I have ever eaten! Cooked medium, the burger was still slightly red and tender. When a burger falls apart and goes everywhere it drives me mad, so I was delighted too that it stayed in tact and didn’t result in me being covered in sauce or similar!

Service was relatively fast, but it certainly doesn’t feel like a ‘fast food’ establishment and nor were we rushed out of the door when we had finished eating. There was wine, beer and spirits on offer on the drinks menu and this would be a really cute place to catch-up with friends over a few drinks and sides – I’d go for the chicken wings personally…

So, if you haven’t already tried Honest Burgers – I swear you won’t regret it! I am planning my next visit already.

That burger looks insaaaaaaanely good!! A little too undercooked for me (i can be fussy) but it looks so so delicious. I love a good onion ring though – i’ll have to visit Honest Burgers soon!
