Valentine’s is that one day of the year where you are expected to spoil your loved one; whether that is by going out for dinner, treating them to a bouquet of roses or running them a candlelit bath. I, however, am quite a fan of taking a short break to celebrate the occasion.
With a variety of romantic destinations worldwide, deciding on just one can be tricky but I thought I would give you a few of my favourite suggestions to give you a little bit of inspiration!
I really think Valentine’s day is the time of year when you can splash out on an upgrade or perhaps a bottle of Champagne on arrival. It’s all about enjoying the day/weekend with the person you love the most.
As for me, being single means I have a candlelit bath to run for myself!
Don’t want to travel too far? There are plenty of places in the UK that are perfect to celebrate Valentine’s Day. One of my favourite is Yorkshire, somewhere that is so quiet and relaxing that is would be the perfect place to get some much needed R&R with your partner. A country house is the perfect retreat for the weekend and one of the ones of my wishlist is Ox Pasture Hall. With such a charming building set without breath-taking surroundings it would make the perfect romantic setting for your weekend away.
If it’s good enough for Grace Kelly, it is good enough for you. Spend your day sunning yourself on the golden beaches or perhaps sipping wine in one of the many bars, whilst daydreaming about which yacht you would own if you had the money. Come night there is still plenty to do, with the world famous casino being the first choice. What could make a romantic Valentine’s weekend away even better than winning big on roulette?!
With so much to do New York is the perfect destination. There is something for everyone and the town has some romantic places too. Try taking a ride around Central Park in a horse and carriage, a sight that is straight out of one of your favourite chick flicks! Stroll arm in arm down Fifth Avenue, mentally spending all of your money and then visit Woodbury Common outlet centre (just outside of the city) in where you can treat your love to designer goodies without the high price tag!
