I absolutely love travelling but I have always been more of a foreign escape girl than a UK breaks one, however in recent years my eyes have been open to the possibilities of destinations within the UK and so I thought I would put together some of my favourites from the not so distant past.
If you’re looking for great little breaks there are many places within our wonderful country that will suit whatever mood may take your fancy.
From a seaside break at one of my favourite water front locations, Brighton, to a trip to bony Scotland for delicious food and views in Edinburgh. Whether you take a train, bus, plane or you drive – you’ll certainly be in for a treat.
With lanes full of quirky and unique shops, plus a wide assortment of restaurants and activities all alongside a majestic seaside, Brighton is the perfect place to spend a few nights. I love it here because it is so relaxed. If you fancy visiting a club or bar it is very laidback and for that reason a lot more enjoyable than some in London or similar.
My advice is to book in advance because hotel rooms sell out incredibly quickly and get quite expensive, particularly in the summer season. Parking is a known challenge in the area also so if you can take alternative transport I would highly recommend you do – it will certainly ensure your weekend break remains relaxing!
I visited Edinburgh for my birthday last year and absolutely loved it. A city with so much history and culture, that can cater for the modern visitor too. This destination impressed from the moment we landed and I was most pleased to discover just how many places there were to eat and drink – whether it’s traditional fayre or Michelin star dining, there is something for everybody and every budget.
There is, of course, plenty to do too. Whether you enjoy walking, fancy a tour of a local gin distillery, want to discover the hidden secrets of the castle or the hidden underground city – I cannot recommend visiting the city more!
