Nike Blazers

Nike Blazer at JD Sports

I have never much been one for sensible shoes, proven by the fact that my choice of footwear for freezing cold Stockholm before Christmas was a pair of pumps.

However with it getting colder and me feeling like I might just need to add to my casual footwear collection, I was tempted by some Nike Blazer trainers from JD Sports. Their wide range of Nike trainers had me stumped for choice, however I have frequently added Blazers to my wishlist and thought that now was the perfect time to add them to my collection!

I went for a cool grey colour; the perfect addition to a variety of outfits. Great for throwing on when you need to pop to the shops on a lazy Sunday, but equally as good for casual Friday at work with a pair of trainers and a jacket. These versatile little things are really adorable and whilst I first thought that they might feel a little clumpy to somebody who is used to pumps, they are actually very comfortable and fit perfectly to the size of my feet.

I take a UK5/EU38 and in my opinion these shoes are true to size, I don’t feel like I need to have sized up or down even by half a size.

Not only do these solve the issue of cold feet in the winter, but come summer they would be the perfect footwear choice for a festival – just add a pair of denim shorts and a cami top! Clothing and footwear that I wear throughout a variety of seasons is a personal favourite thing of mine because it then means I have transitional staples that I can mix and match other items from my wardrobe with.

Even better these little things are reduced to just £40 instead of £70 at JD Sports.

So, what do you think – are you tempted by adding some Nike Blazers to your wardrobe?

Fiflops Skinny Leather Patent

FitFlops at

Last year I put together a little wishlist of Fitflops, which you can view here, after they were featured in Vogue. These shoes have come a long, long way from the original style and there are so many options now that there most certainly is a pair for every outfit, style and occasion.

I will admit that when these shoes first launched I wasn’t a massive fan of them. They seemed a little too chunky for me and the range wasn’t wide enough. However fast forward a few years and here I am wearing my very own pair!

These newly launched Fiflops are the Skinny Leather Patent style in Urban White retailing at £64.99. The cork style base makes them the perfect summer wardrobe addition and their leg and bum toning properties also make them perfect for the season too!

My mum highly rates these shoes and has several pairs, in fact she rarely wears anything else as she finds them so comfortable. So based on that recommendation I thought I would put them to the test.

I am actually really in love with these shoes. It was a decision between these and a pair of the toe post Birkenstocks but these won me over due to their wobbleboard technology.

If you don’t know what this is here is a brief overview:

Delivering extraordinary comfort, it not only helps absorb shock but can also diffuse underfoot pressure, by instantly increasing the contact area of the foot to midsole.”

I have worn them on my walk to and from the station and they are definitely comfortable. I suffer from calf and shin pain when walking and these have helped alleviate this, the shock absorbing technology certainly helps to balance out my stride.

I will admit that these little shoes have truly won me over and I am already looking to see what pair I want next!

Top 5 Summer Picks from George

One of my most favourite online stores to visit recently is George, yes George at ASDA. Since I stumbled across a link to the store on Google have visited again & again – each time buying a little bit more than I probably should have!

Not only is their range fashion forward, well made and often unusual it is also really reasonably priced. With women’s tops like this Stripe Scoop Neck T-shirt for just £4 and these gorgeous Flat Strappy Sandals (which I love, the pastel colours are so cute!) for only £8 you could get an entire wardrobes worth of fashion for next to nothing.

I am getting super excited for the Summer this year because I am so over this cold and wet winter weather, so I thought I would put together my top 5 summer picks from George for you! Though I must admit that it was hard to narrow it down to just 5… my online shopping basket may now be full to the brim!

1. Open Knit Cardigan – £14

This open knit cardigan is the perfect spring/summer accessory, it will keep you warm enough come evening but isn’t too heavy that it will make you hot and sweaty! The colour will accentuate your tan and goes with everything too. A real wardrobe must.

2. Printed Maxi Skirt – £10

Although I am only short I still love a maxi dress or skirt. They are the epitome of summer glamour and elegance, plus they cover up your legs if you have been burnt by the sun or  haven’t shaved/tanned!

3. Puff Print Playsuit – £10

A cotton playsuit is my go-to beach and casual sunny day wear. What could be easier than throwing on a playsuit, some sandals and being ready to hit the beach! The black shade of this will ensure that even if you throw it on over a wet bikini you won’t be left with any awkward wet patches either.

4. Mid Wash Cropped Denim Jacket – £18

An essential in my wardrobe that I refresh every year is a denim jacket. They are so cute and perfect for night and day. They look stylish thrown on over a maxi dress, cami dress or even with a pair of trousers and a blouse for work. I am not sure what I did without one!

5. Metallic Cut-out Sandals – £12

These metallic sandals will go with just about everything this summer and I love the cut-out detail which makes them look a lot more expensive than their £12 price tag! I now have a few pairs of George sandals in my wardrobe and they are without a doubt the most comfortable sandals I have ever worn. I even bought the same pair twice in case they sold out!

Cloggs – Heeled Chelsea Boots

This winter I have bought several pairs of boots and not really fallen in love with any of them. You know when you purchase something out of practicality rather than actually liking the look of it? That is exactly the issue I have had for the last few months. I just can’t find “the one”!

But I didn’t give up my hunt and I am glad that I persevered as after finding a website I had not visited before I found the most beautiful pair of boots, and I plan to wear them forever.

These heeled Chelsea boots are from Cloggs (you can find this exact pair here) and retail for just £34.99. Being 5ft and a little bit extra I find that flat boots and shoes leave me smaller than the year 7’s on my daily commute. Therefore I like to add a little bit of height, especially with boots.

I was after some Chelsea boots but found that most had only a small heel when I wanted something a tiny bit higher and these fitted the bill.

They are SO comfortable, I have worn them walking to and from work plus all day in the office and not been left with sore feet. Hey are also the perfect boots to dress up or down and will look just as good with jeans and a jumper as they do with a dress for work.

I can’t wait to feature them in an OOTD soon but wanted to share them with you first!

You can view the whole Cloggs range here.

Girl Issues: Ballerina Pumps

Ballerina pumps feature heavily in my wardrobe. I have a good few pairs in various colours for various outfits and occasions. They are the most comfortable shoe I own and I know I can wear them without the risk of my feet rubbing and becoming sore.

My issue is that they don’t last 5 minutes! I was previously purchasing my pumps from Primark but found they were a little uncomfortable with their lack of sole – it was like walking bare foot! So instead I decided to invest in some New Look ones instead, they have a slight “heel” which means my feet don’t feel like they are getting bashed as much.

Now, I appreciate that these are relatively low cost items at £4.00 from Primark and £7.99 from New Look. However, in the past month I have gone through 2 pairs of New Look pumps – meaning at this rate my pump habit will cost me close to £200 a year!!

I have spoken to a few of your on Twitter about the issue and it would seem I am not alone in my concerns about this specific footwear! What is most shocking is the response I had from New Look to the issue:

“We would expect them to last much longer than that, but they are fashion shoes so not really designed for everyday wear.

We are not babies in prams that wear shoes but are never actually going to walk in them – what on earth is the point in a pair of shoes not designed for everyday wear?! I cannot understand the rationale behind this excuse at all.

What do you think: is this another reason to invest in quality footwear or should the retailers do something about poor standards?
